We are thrilled to once again join forces with Wilderness Workshop, this time taking you to explore and photograph one of the areas within the boundaries of the CORE Act. Our subject will be an overview of the beautiful Thompson Divide and the West Elks surrounding Carbondale, CO. From our vantage point, we will be also be able to see the impact of two different land management policies on landscape. Namely, areas on the Thompson Divide that have so far been protected from oil drilling and development juxtaposed against Garfield county where it has been allowed.
Whether you are a beginning, intermediate, or a well-seasoned photographer, this workshop will offer you a chance to sharpen your outdoor photography skills. Lighter on technical detail, this class will focus on how to compose photographs that draw the viewer into and through the image.
We’ll spend an hour or so discussing those concepts before heading out for a short evening hike to put your camera and legs to use. The hike will be about 1.5 miles each way and largely off-trail.
Space is limited and registration is required. You can find more details and register for the workshop here. Please contact the gallery if you are planning on joining us from the front range and want to arrange a carpool. We hope you will join us on this adventure!
