Arapaho National Forest, Colorado
Evening light catches the western aspect of the continental divide above 11,000 ft. Porcupine Gulch provides critical continuity of habitat with the land bridge over the Eisenhower Tunnel, the only place where wildlife can safely cross I-70 for 300 miles in either direction.
This image was photographed in support of the Colorado Outdoor Recreation and Economy (CORE) Act, legislation to protect 400,000 acres of public lands in Colorado.
Passage of the CORE Act would result in the designation of Porcupine Gulch as a protected Wildlife Conservation Area.
